What is Powder Metallurgy?

Powder Metallurgy (PM) is a process that mixes fine metal powders and compacts them in a mold into
a shape close to that of the finished product. It then heats the compacted shape below the metal's melting point to alloy it,
enabling the mass production of complex shapes, composite materials, high precision, and high-quality products that are not possible
with traditional casting, forging, welding, or machining methods.

Process

  • 1

    Raw Material Powder

    Uses high purity,
    high compressibility,
    and various functional powders.
  • 2

    Mixing

    Mixes designed materials
    with a precise system.
  • 3

    Compacting

Uses mixed powders and high-precision molds to manufacture the shape of the product under a pressure of 5~13Ton/cm².
  • 4

    Sintering

Heats the compacted body below the melting point, giving the material properties through diffusion bonding and alloying of metal particles.
  • 5

    Sizing

Re-compacts the sintered body with a precision mold to increase dimensional accuracy.
  • 6

    Machining

    Machining
Performs machining on shapes and precision dimensions that are difficult to form in the molding process.
    Heat Treatment
Improves wear resistance and fatigue strength through heat treatments like carburizing.
    Steam Treatment
Enhances corrosion resistance and wear resistance by forming an oxide film (Fe3O4) on the surface in a steam atmosphere of 450~600℃.
